They Keep Getting Better! - These guys keep getting better. The prior albums had moments of brilliance (see songs like Karma, The Spell, or Silent Godess) but were somewhat hit-or-miss. With this album Kamelot gets rid of the miss. Expect fast-paced, and occasionally heavy power metal. And if power metal isn t your gig, it s not typically mine either. The focus here is on Khan s divine vocals. While every song is solid, the killer cuts are The Edge of Paradise, Wander, and The Mourning After.
Best Kamelot album - I ve listened to all of Kamelot s albums now. I started a few months ago on Napster and systematically made my way through most of them. I was very impressed with the production on each album, the tight composition of each song, and the overall melodies. The singing is great too. While I was impressed with them, I somehow left this one for second to last... and wow when I listened to it, I couldn t believe how much better it was than the others. I was already hooked and I thought they were a 5-star band. But when I heard the intro to Epica, I got hooked. I immediately bought the MP3 album here off Amazon, which I believe to be a great price, and listened to the whole album on my iPod. What an amazing treat! From the opening intro, which is very powerful, to the roller coaster of the rest of the album, to the final amazing songs and the final outro, I was hooked. I find albums with great intros and outros are often composed well, and this album is just such an album. If you like complex music with nice melodies, great guitar work without excessive shredding, awesome drumming, and just great composition in general, look no further than Epica. It s a real epic - very appropriately named!
A masterpiece. - Epica is a brilliant album that masterfully creates a story of love and life that manages to flow beautifully from track to track.Featuring the angelic voice of Simone Simmonds from her own band Epica, Kamelot s Epica is definably worth it s weight in gold.
Awesomeness! - Well, I honestly can t remember just where or from whom I first heard of Kamelot. It was a divine calling that I should pick up this CD. I just had a feeling about this one. I couldn t wait to get it. Epica was worth every second of the wait. From beginning to end it s solid and consuming. Sadly a rare event in modern metal. Kamelot are miles ahead of other Power metal bands. In fact their something totally of their own creation. It s less a swords and sorcery album than an emotional epic set within a fantasy backdrop. I d put it up there with Operation: Mindcrime by Queensryche as far as concept albums go and that s saying something! In short, Epica a surperior album by an amazing band. You can t live without this one. Go ahead. Get it. NOW!
